All work is paid in the following manner: 50% before the work begins and 50% when it’s completed. Payment is due within 24 hours of invoice. Once work commences, all payments are non-refundable (except if I choose to return an unready MS). Payments are made through Paypal. It is not necessary to have a Paypal account.
I will give you an estimate of how much time it will take for me to complete your project before you make your first payment. If this estimate changes, I will notify you immediately. If your project is a rush job, I reserve the right to charge a premium of up to 25%, which I will only do if I have a full workload, and you will be fully aware of it before committing to hiring me.
Crediting the Editor
When you upload a book to an online retailer, you will be given the option to officially credit the editor for the work done. It is my policy to only permit this if a client has used the Third-Pass Proofreading service I offer, and only if the manuscript is uploaded without significant changes after this Third-Pass. This is because changes made could contain errors that I will not have the opportunity to address. Regardless, I do appreciate a mention in the Acknowledgment section of your book, and thank you in advance for including me.
Yes, I do sample edits! Send me your first chapter or the first 1,000 words, and I will do a sample edit for you, free of charge. Authors may take advantage of this offer one time only, for a single manuscript.
Much as I would love to do a review of a client’s book for Amazon, I cannot. Amazon considers it a conflict of interest and will remove it. Obviously, anything that could cause friction between one of my clients and Amazon is something I will avoid at all costs. I am sorry for any inconvenience this policy may cause, and if Amazon ever changes that rule, I will certainly consider changing mine.
